2015 Rugby World Cup – will you be a winner?

Thu 08 Jan 2015

Many clients have been enquiring about letting out their properties for the Rugby World Cup (RWC) 2015 when Twickenham will become the focus of thousands of rugby fans, media and team associates from around the world.  Knowing that FG are a specialist lettings agent who deal with sports and short lets, we are often the first port of call for many local Landlords. In fact such is the volume of enquiries that these Landlords have become known as “Event Landlords”.

Fitz-Gibbon have been very much involved with the RWC and have been gearing up for this as far back as 2012 having been in talks with the RFU and IRB (Integrated Rugby Board) about providing accommodation.   We have been keenly watching the improvements to Twickenham Station, the development of Regal House and the refurbishments of many local pubs and restaurants as these are all things that will help us to provide more accurate valuations and maximise income for our Landlords.  We are currently finishing off work in many clients properties in readiness for the RWC so it’s an exciting time!

Area Associate Director of FG Jane Kenyon explains the complexities of marketing properties for events like the World Cup . Tenants know specific details just as they would holiday homes.  So property details must detail every aspect  of a property from the existence of a cot or games consoles or whether pets are allowed.   For Landlords, Fitzgibbon offer peace of mind that their property is in safe hands.  For example, tenancy agreements for shorter lets are very different to those  for long lets and our staff who are fully ARLA (Associated of Residential Lettings Agents) understand the differences.   To make the process easier,  FG have put together a RWC guide and property check list to help any potential Landlords decide if their property is suitable for renting and what kind of rental income they are likely to achieve during the games.
